Craig Koszewski · SVP, Head of FX Technology & Product Development @ Northern Trust · Chicago, IL

Craig Koszewski — Architect of Code.
Builder of Things.

Trading platforms and technology roadmaps by trade. Guitars, bookcases, and machines that make other things by nature. Same discipline, different materials.

TECHNICAL BUILDS

Digital Architecture

Systems where milliseconds and data models matter. Platforms designed from the schema up, owned from whiteboard to production.

BUILD_01

Alexis

High-performance retail trading platform

A retail trading platform engineered for speed and correctness. The core is its data architecture: normalized market and account state flowing through an algorithmic execution layer, built to stay deterministic under bursty, real-time load.

  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Python
  • SQL

BUILD_02

JunkBox

AI-integrated electronics inventory

Hardware meets software: an inventory system for a workshop's worth of components, with AI-assisted identification and categorization so a drawer of mystery parts becomes a queryable database.

  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • AI / LLM

BUILD_03

Upkeep

Game tournament tracking system

A tournament tracking system that handles brackets, standings, and match history — built so organizers run events instead of spreadsheets.

  • React
  • TypeScript
  • SQL

BUILD_04

The Ark

Autonomous multi-agent engineering team

A headless, autonomous agent hierarchy: five specialized agents operating as a private agile team — planning, architecting, building, reviewing, and shipping across Craig's projects. Fully self-hosted within his home network, working whether he's at the bench or not.

  • AI Agents
  • LLM Orchestration
  • Python
  • Self-Hosted

PHYSICAL BUILDS

Tangible Craftsmanship

The same precision, different medium. Toolpaths from Fusion 360, fixtures off a Bambu Lab printer, joinery mapped by CNC — technology in service of things you can hold, sit on, and play.

MAKE_01

Fusion 360 → CNC → Finish

Custom Guitar

A playable instrument that started as a parametric model. Designed in Fusion 360, the body and pockets precision-cut on a CNC machine — toolpaths doing what templates and routers used to, to tolerances they never could.

  • Fusion 360
  • CNC Router
  • Hand Finishing

MAKE_02

Measure → Model → Install

Built-in Bookcases

Floor-to-ceiling built-ins designed around the room, not against it. Spatial design and structural woodworking working together: load paths, reveal lines, and scribed fits where drywall refuses to be square.

  • Spatial Design
  • Structural Woodworking
  • Built-in Joinery

MAKE_03

Sketch → Joinery → Glue-up

Piano Bench

Functional furniture with a job to do: hold a pianist steady for a few thousand hours. Proportioned from the instrument out, joined to outlast the piano it sits beside.

  • Furniture Design
  • Traditional Joinery
  • Hand Finishing

CAREER & CORE

About Craig

One discipline, two workbenches.

Craig Koszewski is a Senior Vice President and Head of FX Technology & Product Development at Northern Trust in Chicago. His career is rooted in software architecture: he owns the technology and product roadmaps for his institution, making the calls on what gets built, how it scales, and why it matters. The systems under his name move real money in real time, which leaves no room for design by accident.

But the title is downstream of the actual identity: Craig is a maker. His personal time goes to bringing schematics to life — sometimes through a soldering iron, sometimes through a 3D printer, sometimes through an IDE. Lately that includes The Ark, a five-agent autonomous team he built and hosts on his own home network, so even his side projects have an engineering department. A trading platform and a CNC-cut guitar are, to him, the same problem wearing different materials: understand the constraints, design the structure, cut precisely, and ship something that works.

Relentlessly curious. Allergic to the ornamental. If it doesn't function, it isn't finished.
